Finals Mania volunteers needed

The word has gone out: Volunteers are needed once again to make Finals Mania a success.

The upcoming event, which is scheduled for 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. Monday, May 1, is a twice-a-year tradition held at the end of the fall and spring semesters to provide a much-needed break for students who are hard at work preparing for final exams. Around 1,700 students are expected to come to the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion in the MD Anderson Library that night to get a plate of pancakes and turkey sausage, as well as coffee, orange juice and snacks.

A small army of volunteers helps make the evening run smoothly. Volunteer opportunities include distributing meal tickets to students, assisting with volunteer check-in, manning beverage stations, clearing trash, distributing snacks and greeting students.

Those who would like to volunteer can go to the online sign-up form to review the different roles that are available before choosing the ones that interest them.

“We’re thankful for all of those dedicated individuals who give of their time to help with this wonderful event,” said Leighanne Dean, marketing coordinator for Auxiliary Services. “We would also love new faces to join us. It’s fun and gives our students a much-needed break.”
