The Advancement Ambassadors at the University of Houston is a dynamic student leadership organization affiliated with the Division of Advancement and Alumni. These ambassadors actively engage with donors and supporters of the University, aiming to express deep gratitude to those who contribute to the ongoing and future success of UH. Comprised of elite student leaders from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines, the ambassadors play a vital role in representing UH and cultivating a culture of appreciation and support within the University community. Through their involvement in a wide range of activities, they embody the spirit of service and dedication to advancing UH's mission of becoming a Top 50 public university.

Advancement and Alumni Support

Advancement Ambassadors represent the student body by networking with UH donors, alumni and leadership volunteers at a variety of events, including galas and board meetings. In addition to serving as representatives, they offer their time and expertise to assist with event engagement and operations, supporting alumni events across the Houston area.

Responsibilities

Advancement Ambassadors serve as the face of the student experience to University donors, alumni, volunteers and the community in various settings. By engaging in volunteer work, pursuing personal and professional growth opportunities and attending exclusive networking events, ambassadors play a vital role in offering UH students with access to educational opportunities funded by generous contributions from individuals and organizations.

Required duties include:

  • Regular attendance at biweekly ambassador board meetings on Thursday evenings
  • Participation in biannual retreats held each semester
  • Involvement in biweekly project group meetings scheduled at a mutually agreed upon time
  • Volunteering for a minimum of 15 hours per semester
  • Professional representation of the Advancement Ambassadors and the Division of Advancement and Alumni

Applicants who meet the following criteria will be considered for Advancement Ambassadors:

  • Full-time University of Houston student in good standing
  • Maintenance of a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • University of Houston student for at least one full academic year
  • Has two semesters remaining at UH prior to graduation

*If an Advancement Ambassador accepts an internship or studies abroad during one of their semesters, they can still obtain and maintain membership by making arrangements with the executive team before the first meeting of the semester. Applicants must be able to serve as an Advancement Ambassador until graduation.

The selection process has three stages:

    • Informational Sessions
    • Application
    • Interview
