EEO Policy President's Statement
The University of Houston is committed to a vision of freedom from discrimination for all people regardless of their race, color, religion, age,
national origin, gender, disability, veteran's status, or sexual orientation. This vision is a fundamental part of the University's guiding
philosophies and policies.
We will make every attempt to assure the absence of discrimmination within our comunity and to promote equal opportunity for and equitable
treatment of members of all groups.
I enjoin each member of the University community to make decisions based on the principles of mutual respect and civility, and to ensure that
all euql opportntiy and affirmative action principles and obligations are met, as set forth in both Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972
and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It is through these objectives that we build on each other's diverse values, ideas, styles, and
experiences, and thereby continue to grow and prosper in the coming years.
It is up to each of us as individuals to uphold these principles as a core objective during our time at the University, so as to enfsure that we are
not only in compliance witht he law, but that we accord respect to all of our facutly and staff members and to our students.
The Univesity of Houston's Office of Affirmative Action is charged with monitoring compliance with these laws and regulations and assists in
