Hello! I am a 2012 Tier One Scholar at the University of Houston
pursuing double degrees in Chemistry and Spanish. This summer I will be traveling to Cuernavaca,
Mexico as part of the Kukulcan Spanish Immersion program. Through Kukulcan, I will be taking two
advanced level Spanish classes in written and oral communication.
Blimey! I am beyond excited for what Summer 2013 has in store. On June
3rd, I will be flying to London with several other Honors College
students for our study abroad program led by Professor Cremins to
Britain and Ireland.

actuary. Teaching faculty members English the past week has been a very
rewarding experience. Over the past three days (I will explain in a bit
why I say three), I have seen my students' conversational English skills
My name is Cara Riffe, and I am a rising sophomore studying biology here at the University of Houston. Last semester, thanks to my Tier One scholarship and UH's amazing faculty
and staff, I joined Dr. Jokubas Ziburkus' neuroscience
lab as an undergraduate research assistant.
