Valentine’s Day Jog with Troops Set for Feb. 16

The Houston Corps of Cadets will host its third annual three-mile jog through the UH campus to commemorate U.S. troops serving near and abroad on Valentine's Day.

The public is invited to join with all active- duty veterans, reservists, National Guard and retired military in participating with the Houston Corps of Cadets in this free run from 6-7 a.m., Monday, Feb. 16 to show appreciation for those who have answered our nation's call.

Donations will be accepted and will benefit the Michael E. DeBakey Houston Veteran's Medical Center and the DeGeorge House at Union Station Shelter for Homeless Veterans.

Registration will take place on-site from 6-6:15 a.m. The jog will begin at 6:35 a.m., following opening remarks from Col. Philip Bossert, commander of the UH Air Force ROTC Detachment 003, and stretching. Participants will run at a nine-minute per mile pace.

The Houston Corps of Cadets, created Sept. 18, 2007, is the official association of Air Force, Army and Navy/Marine ROTC programs in the Houston metro area. With about 300 cadets and midshipmen, the Houston Corps of Cadets is currently the second-largest Corps in the Gulf Coast region.
