Students will investigate Ancient Egypt. Each student will
be assigned a home
group based on a particular kingdom and also will be assigned a role to
research
Home groups:
Early Dynastic Period - 3100 B.C.E. to 2686 B.C.E.; Dynasties 1st
& 2nd
Old Kingdom - 2686 B.C.E. to 2160 B.C.E.; Dynasties 3rd to 8th
1st Intermediate Period - 2160 B.C.E. to 2040 B.C.E.; Dynasties
9th & 10th
Middle Kingdom - 2040 B.C.E. to 1786 B.C.E.; Dynasties 11th &
12th
2nd Intermediate Period - 1786 B.C.E. to 1567 B.C.E.; Dynasties
13th to 17th
New Kingdom - 1567 B.C.E. to 1085 B.C.E.; Dynasties 18th to 20th
Late Dynastic Period - 1085 B.C.E. - 332 B.C.E.; Dynasties 21st
to 30th
Ptolemaic Period - 332 B.C.E. to 30 B.C.E.
Roles:
pharaoh
physician
priest
architect
nobles (adult & child - male & female)
peasants (adult & child - male & female)
Instructions:
• Each group will determine a particular dynasty within
their assigned time
period (Kingdom); each member will research their assigned roles within
that
group; all members will contribute to a group presentation which will
highlight their roles
• Information must be historically accurate; students
will create individual
fictional characters based on their assigned roles (also historically accurate)
including a name and representation of themselves
• Group presentations should be between 15 to 20 minutes;
grades will be
based on group presentation, individual participation, creativity, and
unique
presentation components
In your group presentation, be sure to include the following information:
• government (strength of pharaoh)
• currency
• natural resources
• food (hunting/farming)
• shelter
• clothing and adornments
• religion and deities
• customs and celebrations
• myths and legends
• entertainment
• weapons and tools
• crafts
• language
