Students will investigate North American Indians. Each student
will be assigned a home group
based on a particular area of the country and also will be assigned
a role (task) to research
Home groups:
Northeast
Northwest
Southeast
Southwest
Great Plains
Roles:
adult male
adult female
child
chief/leader
medicine person/shaman
Instructions:
Each group will determine a particular Indian tribe found within their
assigned region; each
member will research their assigned roles within that group; all members
will contribute to a
group presentation which will highlight their roles
Tribal information must be historically accurate; students will create
individual fictional
characters based on their assigned roles (also historically accurate)
including a name and
representation of themselves
Presentations should be between 15 to 20 minutes; grades will be based
on group presentation,
individual participation, creativity, and unique presentation components
In your group presentation, be sure to include the following information:
• location
• language
• government
• currency
• natural resources
• food
• hunting/farming
• shelter
• clothing
• customs
• celebrations
• weapons
• crafts
• myths and legends
