Theory:

Monday, August 21: MEET IN LARGE GROUP. Assignment for Wednesday:
       Review Part III, Ch 1, "Secondary Dominants" and Ch 2, "Modulation."
       Also review Part V, Units 13, 15, & 20 on cadence, phrase structure, and form (especially simple binary and rounded binary form).

       Photocopy and analyze: Anthology, p. 130-132 (Verdi, Handel, Beethoven)

Theory:

Monday, August 28: Continue review of Part III, Chs 1-2. Assignment for Wednesday:
       Anthology, p. 168 (Beethoven. Analyze harmony, cadences, and phrase structure.)

Wednesday's assignment for next Wednesday (no class Monday):
       Create harmonizations for modulating melodies, TMM, p. 148, No. 5 a, b, c, d. (Choose two of the four melodies. Use 4-part choral style or keyboard style.)
       Study new theory chapter: Part III, Chapter 3, "Linear Diminished 7th Chords"
