Badminton players are smashing people who are very clear in what they do and will drop everything to help you.

I have been playing badminton for almost 40 years! This conjures up all kinds of response from people:

• " Wow! Have you finally figured out how to play the game?" ; (No, I am still learning)

• "If you have been playing that long, how come you don't play better?" (I have a basic problem, I am a slow learner and I can't remember things very long.')

• "Golly, aren't you bored with the game by now? " (How can I be, every time I play I get a new thrill, hit a shot I never hit and get to compete...... I think humans need to compete)

Two nights a week, at about 8 PM I get in my car and drive 35 miles across Houston, Texas to play badminton for two to three hours. Before we married I told my wife-to-be that I was very laid back, non-confrontational and very adaptable about everything with only one exception. That one exception was absolute; that I would go play badminton no matter what the circumstances, rain, hurricane, tornado warning, flood......you get the picture. I think she will confirm the truth of this. For the past 25 years this has been at the Cossaboom YMCA

Located on the Loop 610 feeder between Broadway and 45 (Gulf Freeway). The gym is behind the main YMCA building.

Play is Monday and Wednesday night, from 9 PM to 11:30 PM, or until we quit
