Senior Block Tuesday 2:30 -5:30 Scott Hopkins This class will be run as an on-going workshop which is a different approach than most classes use. The format of this class is a response to your position as seniors which means that you more digitally and artistically mature, and can be expected to be self-motivated and work independently. The workshop style will use your own projects as real-life examples of techniques and problems related to multimedia. Each class will consist of different people showing their projects in various states of development and as a discussion of the artistic and technical issues that arise. There will also be demo on different aspects of Director. Workshops are more interactive and flexible in their content but it will only work with your participation, and its success depends on your doing a large amount of work outside class. Because we only meet once a week, attendance and participation is critical. Most of what you learn this semester about Director, you will teach yourself, outside of class, by working on your project and working through the assigned tutorials. You will be graded only at mid-term and your final project, but will be expected to work consistency throughout the semester. Multimedia projects always take more time than expected and cannot be done right by staying up all night the last day before the final is due. So be forewarned. You will not get all that you could out of this class if you donŐt work every week on class related work. As you can imagine, attendance is extremely important in this class, more than a normal class. The material covered in each classes workshop cannot be duplicated elsewhere. In the unique situation of this course, missing one class is the same as missing a week in another course. Thirty percent of your grade will be based on your attendance and 60 percent will be based on your midterm and final project. My office hours are Tuesday 5:30 to 6:30 and Thursday 12:30 to 2:30.
