UH BOWLING TEAM SCHOLARSHIP
PROGRAM

BOWLING SCHOLARSHIPS will be awarded to individual student athletes who through the tryout process are chosen to the traveling team. The number of scholarships may number five or six, and is left to the discretion of the bowling coach and/or scholarship committee. Scholarships will be awarded to both mens and womens teams. Amount of scholarships are yet to be determined, but it is estimated that the amount will not exceed $250.00 per semester.

Bowling Scholarship numbers and amounts may be increased or decreased as deemed necessary and is based on the amount of funding available. This scholarship program differs from previous years and we are actively trying to increase the number and the amount of scholarships awarded.

All bowlers actively trying out for the travel team will fill out a combination "bowlers bio-scholarship application" at the beginning of the fall semester. There will be no other scholarship application form required.

Scholarship moneys are acquired through team fund raising activities, donations received from corporate sponsors and individual contributions.

Recipients who drop their course load below the minimum requirements for collegiate eligibility, will be obligated to repay the Scholarship Fund the full amount of their scholarship. At the discretion of the team coach, bowlers who are severely disciplined may also be required to repay scholarship.

MEMORIAL and/or HONORARY SCHOLARSHIPS
The University of Houston Bowling Program has been honored in recent years by the inception of four memorial and/or honorary scholarships. These very special remembrances flow into our General Scholarship Fund; the UH Bowling Scholarship Committee honors four varsity bowlers by naming them as recipients of these scholarships.

The Phil Tilotta Sr. Memorial Scholarship is given to an in-state student athlete with a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. This student must have demonstrated his enthusiasm and "love of the game of bowling" to others beyond the context of the Cougar Bowling Club. Amount of award: $250.00 (funding graciously provided by the Houston Bowling Association).

The Michael Richard Memorial Scholarship is given to an in-state student athlete with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. This student must have demonstrated qualities of sportsmanship, friendliness towards others, and team camaraderie. Amount of award: $250.00 (funding graciously provided by Texas Music and Amusements, Jimmy Franz).

The Richard S. Gage Service Scholarship is given to a student athlete with a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. This award is intended for a student from the Houston community, and who has experienced continued perserverance and dedication to the game of bowling. With all four scholarships, recipients who are currently on scholarship through the bowling team shall have their scholarship money increased by the amount of the memorial/honorary scholarship.
