The Modern Era
Modern times begin with the Scientific Revolution (1600s) and continue through today. The Modern Era can be divided into two periods.
The "new science" revolutionizes humanity's understanding of the cosmos. Europe's exploitation of the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Oceania accelerates.
During the late modern period, industrial and information technology revolutionize everyday life. Science marches on and, after two world wars, Western imperialism reaches equilibrium.
