Transactional or transformational leadership?
A study of F.W. de Klerk's early presidency, 1989-92.
A psychobiographic study of President F.W. de Klerk and South Africa's
transition to democracy. The study combines political leadership theories
advanced by James Burns and Margaret Hermann to demonstrate that de Klerk's
presidency was transactional.
Adapt ... or die: A game-theoretic model
of the 1992 national referendum in South Africa.
A rational choice study of the referendum as a non-cooperative form
game. The study shows, among other things, that the decision by White South
Africans to support political negotiations was made after careful consideration
of the payoffs.
