Omicron Tau Theta

The Pi Chapter of Omicron Tau Theta (OTT) was established on December 4, 1988, to provide master's level students in the College of Technology with the opportunity to belong to a national honorary professional graduate society. The national society was established at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Omicron Tau Theta represents the professional achievements which vocational educators have established. Ethical standards of a professional, values concerning human resources, and competency as a result of education, training, and experience characterize the professional vocational educator. As such students in all fields of training, including Marketing Education, Business and Office Education, Trade and Industrial Education, Technology Education, and Training and Development Education are welcome in Pi Chapter.

Educators whose interests are to foster the welfare of education and to share knowledge, attitudes, and skills will find their goals consistent with the goals of OTT.

The goals of OTT will provide a unified effort for all special-interest groups. Commonalities of several professional endeavors will be aimed at the improvement of vocational education for youths and adults.

Eligibility for candidacy to membership in Omicron Tau Theta will be available to any person who meets the following minimum requirements:

  1. The holding of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  2. The completion of either semester hours of graduate work, at least three hours of which shall have been in professional vocational education courses, in institutions in which chapters of this Society have been formed. The grade average in these eight semester hours of credit shall be at least B or 85%.
  3. Evidence of vocational education as the candidate's major field of interest. (See the list of education majors in the ITEC Department for which this applies.)
