Instructional Strategies for Marketing Education

Course Objectives:

By the end of the semester, following instruction, homework assignments, and class interaction, students will demonstrate:

Course Projects:

  1. Prepare a detailed lesson plan for your Marketing Education class. The plan should be for a 50 minute period.
    1. Prepare a list and brief outline of all other lesson plans which would be a part of this unit.
    2. One 20-minute presentation will be made in front of the class using the lesson plan. Use at least 6 different methods or strategies during this presentation. Microsoft PowerPoint will count for one (1) method (you must include clip art in these transparencies). Time will be important. A grade sheet will be handed out in class prior to the presentation for each student to use for critiquing your lesson. You must provide a copy of the detailed lesson plan for each teaching class member which includes any supplementary materials (for the entire lesson plan).
  2. Prepare a bulletin board. This may be used with your presentation and may count for one of the different methods/strategies required.
  3. Develop a paper presenting your philosophy of Marketing Education. This paper should indicate the areas within the field which you feel are most important, tell why you think these areas are important, present your concerns for the future (considering the changes which you feel will take place), and end with your personal view on your field and why you chose that field for your career. You should include a bibliography of at least five articles in this paper.
  4. Students will discover at least 5 articles relating to teaching marketing. A copy of each article will be turned in. You should be prepared to discuss the articles with the class when time permits.
    1. Students will choose one of the teaching methods and find at least 5 articles dealing with that method which have been published within the last year and a half. Students must clear the method with the instructor before beginning this activity. Only one student may discuss each method.
