Collegiate DECA

Collegiate DECA at the University of Houston provides an opportunity for students at the University to learn advising techniques; working with competitive events; complement and enrich the education of prospective Marketing Education teachers; promote and develop interest in Marketing Education, DECA, and related educational fields; develop a respect for education in Marketing as it contributes to occupational competence; participate in district, state and national competitive activities; and prepare for the world of work. Collegiate DECA is a non-profit organization which was formed in 1970. This group functions as a student/professional organization.

The Leadership Conference and Career Development Conferences take place in different locations across the district, state, and nation. This year the State Career Development Conference will take place in Austin and the District CDC will take place at the Marriott Westside . The National DECA CDC will be in Denver Colorado.

The Collegiate Chapter activities are directed toward developing its members for careers as Marketing Education teachers/coordinators, and DECA Chapter Advisors. Members of Collegiate DECA maintain an affiliation with DECA on a local, state and/or national level, work with the business community to establish and promote the Marketing Education Program and Collegiate DECA, encourage new ideas in Marketing Education and are provided an opportunity to discuss new ideas with fellow Marketing Educators.
