Time Inc. Establishes New Scholarship for PGSF's "Campaign for the 21st Century"

Pittsburgh, Pa., March 31, 2000-Time Inc. of New York, New York recently established the Time Inc. Production Endowed Scholarship to participate in Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation's (PGSF) "Campaign for the 21st Century". This gift entitles Time Inc. to become a member of PGSF's Senefelder Society, which recognizes donors for their commitment at the $50,000 level.

"We are very pleased to participate in PGSF's campaign," said Barry Meinerth, vice president of production at Time Inc. and new member of the PGSF Board of Directors. "We at Time Inc. recognize that by establishing a scholarship and setting the specific criteria we need, we are directly investing in our future workforce."

Students who may be eligible to receive the Time Inc. Production Scholarship must be enrolled full-time in an accredited graphic communications, printing, or publishing program at one of several four-year colleges: California Polytechnic State University of San Luis Obispo, California; Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona; University of Houston, Houston, Texas; Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina; and Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York. Recipients of this award in their junior or senior year will be eligible to participate in a summer internship program at one of the following Time Inc. locations: Torrance, California; Waterloo, Wisconsin; Dallas, Texas; Saratoga, New York; and New York, New York. All recipients of this award must also maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

PGSF launched its new fund raising campaign in November 1999 at the PIA/GATF Graphic Arts Industry Summit. The "Campaign for the 21st Century" is aimed at raising PGSF's endowed fund from $5 million to $10 million in the next year, and to continue toward the ultimate goal of $20 million in year two. Cal Aurand, retired chairman of Banta Corporation, is leading this effort as Campaign Chairman, along with Harold Gegenheimer, Chairman Emeritus of Baldwin Technology, as Honorary Chairman.
