COURSE INFORMATION
Prerequisites:
An introductory course in networking or Networking Essentials or Instructor Approval.
Course Description
This course will introduce the student to the Windows NT Workstation 4.0 operating system and how to network computers with NT Workstation installed. In addition, the student will use hands-on projects and project cases to emphasize what is taught in lecture. Topics to be covered in detail: user management, print services, file system management, user permissions, and advanced workstation configuration and connection. Advanced troubleshooting and network support will also be covered. The student will be required to design and implement a Disaster Recovery System.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Add, change and delete users
Create a print shares and understand associated printing terminology
Troubleshoot workstation configuration problems
Optimize workstation performance
Understand file and directory permissions
Install and maintain Windows NT Workstation
Understand how to use of the network utilities
Plan a local area network
Specify hardware needed and why
Setup hardware
Install network operating system and configure server
Install network interface card in workstation and connect to the LAN
Log onto the network and setup users and other network resources

All Assignments \ Homework will have a cover sheet with your name, student ID#, Class Number, Section Number, Instructor Name and Assignment Title. All assignments must be typed unless otherwise assigned.
TEAM PROJECTS

Deliverables: A team presentation in class, and a typed report.
REQUIREMENTS
Class Meetings \ Attendance
You are required to attend all class meetings and completed all reading assignments. If you miss a meeting, it is your responsibility to obtain notes from a fellow student. Office hours are not meant for individual lectures. If you are going to miss any class meetings, please contact your instructor immediately. If you are more then 30 minutes late you will be counted absent, and if you miss more then 1 class meetings you final grade will be lowered by a letter grade for each additional absences. NO assignments will be accepted later then 30 minutes after class starts and no make up quizzes and exams will be given unless a one week notice is given to the instructor.
CLASS INTERUPTIONS
During class, mobile phones and pagers must have their audible alarms off. Failure to observe this rule will result in you being asked to leave.
