Chernish is the proprietor of Toad Hill Farm, a 101-acre grassland farm operation in Newfield, New York. Newfield is in the heart of the Upstate New York Finger Lakes region, about eight miles South of Ithaca and Cayuga Lake.
Toad Hill is the home to thirty to sixty Black Angus beef cattle, deer, wild turkeys and hundreds of woodchucks. Hay is harvested for the cattle, and the cattle are the "cash" crop--or are supposed to be.
