- To better understand gas behavior, a set of standard conditions is used for comparing gas parameters.
- The values, 0ƒC (273.15 K) and 1 atm (760 torr) are designated as standard temperature and pressure (STP):
- Under these conditions, the volume of one mole of an ideal gas is 22.414 L, which is called the standard molar volume:
- Most simple real gases have a standard molar volume close to 22.4 L.
