• The zinc blende (ZnS) structure can be described as face-centered  arrays of Zn 2+ ions and of S 2ñ ions, penetrating each other.

• Each ion is surrounded by four ions of opposite charge.

• Other compounds such as CuCl, BeS, and ZnO also adopt the zinc  blende structure.
