Research
Proposal
Submit your proposal (1 page) by
September 23 Suggested length, 1 page 5 points
May be submitted either in
class on paper or on-line via WebCT.
Do you have an alternative
topic? Try it out on us, we may say no to it or suggest how to refine it or
expand it, but we will still give you credit for trying. (But it’s better
to contact one of us sooner rather than later.)
Aspects of the Research proposal
1. Your
topic (make it as specific as possible)
You could say things about
why you are interested in this topic, perhaps something about yourself that it
relates to from your background, major, hobbies, career plans, etc.
2. Some of the
issues you plan to discuss concerning your topic
Try to tie these in with
topics in our course, although we have only come
part-way so far, you can always look ahead on the syllabus and in the books!
3. Things you
intend to use for resource material
Journal articles, magazines,
books, Internet sites, databases, interviews, annual reports, government
publications, etc. A bit later in the semester we will have a presentation in
class about resources by the Art Librarian.
