THE HIVE monthly discussion

Friday, February 12, 2021

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

This semester, the Women and Gender Resource Center will be collaborating with the Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, and UH Wellness for our monthly discussions at THE HIVE. The team will be using the memoir All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson to guide discussions around the themes of family support and recognition of queer members, healing from sexual assault, and being in a fraternity as a Black queer individual, and much more.

This memoir has garnered a large amount of attention, even landing a deal to create a television series under Gabrielle Union’s I’ll Have Another production company and a live dramatic reading featuring actress Jennifer Lewis. Join us on Zoom as we discuss and learn from the author’s journey as a Black queer boy from childhood through adolescence and their experience of attending a Historically Black College and University (HBCU).

We no longer have free copies of the book available. Please consider visiting the UH bookstore or African Imports at the Greenspoint Mall to purchase your copy. Participants are welcome to join the monthly conversations even if they have not read the book.
