Abigail Garcia (she/her) began her role as the Gender Equity Education Program Manager in December 2022. Prior to this role, Abigail was the Marketing Instructional Assistant at the University of Houston Student Centers. Her philosophy is to foster innovative, inclusive, and mindful programming for students at the University of Houston. She is passionate about developing resources, support services, and peer mentorship programs for sexual assault survivors and gender equity work.
Abigail served as the ACUI Marsha Herman-Betzen Intern and following her internship serves as the Community Leader for the Graduate Students and New Professionals’ Community of Practice. Abigail earned her Bachelor’s degree in Asian American Studies and Journalism, with an emphasis in Public Relations at California State University Northridge where she developed her passion for gender based violence research and working with Student Survivors. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Education at the University of Houston in the College of Education.
In her free time, Abigail enjoys playing cozy, comfort games like Animal Crossing and Disney Dream Light Valley. She enjoys exploring new restaurants, going to concerts, and visiting family back home in Los Angeles, California.
