The Coming of the English Civil War Project provides modern calendars for the major documentary series from the TNA that are on the AALT; the individual cases in the calendars are linked directly to the digitized images on the AALT. The immediate object is to provide the foundation for other people to investigate the legal history of the time right before the Civil War. Tangentially, however, the calendars will facilitate the understanding of economic and social relationship, of local history and place names, shipping,
tithes and tithing practices, towns, basically the whole range of historical studies of the time, as well as providing a valuable resource for family historians. The links on this page are also available on the Charles I AALT page in the rows for 1641 and 1642: http://aalt.law.uh.edu/Charles%20I.html . They are provided here again simply to draw attention to the resources now available for those years and perhaps for the greater convenience. Chancery Equity
