  • Case Book BL Harley MS 2143 fo. 21v. A conspiracy to murder one punished by pillory loss of ears whipping and perpetual imprisonment. Henry Dingley and two other prisoners in the Compters were brought to the bar, who by the Queen’s attorney were charged with a conspiracy to murder one Baptist Bassamy, an Italian, one of the Queen’s musicians, by the procurement of one Jerimy Frezner, an [fo. 22r. (kk) Italian fled beyond the seas, which upon their examinations openly read was confessed, for which offence the defendants were adjudged to lose their ears upon the pillory, one at Westminster, and the other in Cheapside, and to be brought to the place where they intended the murder should have been done from thence to be whipped at a cart to Bridewell where they were to remain during their lives and Dingley to be whipped every quarter once whiles he lived except it should be otherwise ordered by this court.
