Notes, Additions and Corrections:
- ODNB Dacre family (per. 1542–1716), gentry by Henry Summerson
“Sir Thomas Dacre . . and his sons engaged in a series of fierce quarrels with the Dacres of Naworth” “a hunting party from Naworth rampaged over the Lanercost demesnes, and when Christopher remonstrated Lord Dacre's second son, Leonard, allegedly told him, ‘Thou arte a varlett and a knave and I shall breake the payte’ (TNA: PRO, STAC5/D35/21).
- ODNB Dacre, Leonard (d. 1573), rebel by Henry Summerson
For his part Leonard Dacre took exception to the jointure Thomas Dacre had settled upon his wife, describing it as greater ‘than ever anye the wyves of the auncestors of the said Lorde Dacre had’ (TNA: PRO, STAC5/D37/16).
