Interrogatories to be mynystred unto Roger Carnabye Richarde Carnabye Thomas Carnabie Mighell Carnabie Alice Carnabie and Alice Smart Defts att the suit of Reignolde Carnabye plt./

1 Fyrst whether doe youe knowe a Farme or place called Satlingstons in the Countie of Northumberland or the house or tenement wherein the said plt dwelleth

2 Item whether did youe on the xxixth daie of Januarye last past or thereabouts come to or towardes the house of the said plt and for what entent came youe thither

3 Item who and howe many was then in youre company and what were theire names and what weapons municon or artillary had eny of them./

4 Item whether did youe or they or any of them so assembled or goinge unto or towardes the plt or his said house assalte the said plt or strike him beate or wound him and where and in what place and in what manner and what hurte or wound was then given to the said plt and by whome and whither repaired the same p[er]sons after they had donne the same Feate and to what house place or companye

5 Item whether did youe or any other p[er]son to youre knowledge and howe many and what p[er]sons bene the same and what be there names upon the sixt daie or Marche Last past or thereabouts come unto or neare unto the house of the said plt and for what entent dyd youe the same

6 Item whether did youe or any other p[er]son or p[er]sons then and theire or about that tyme assault the said howse and w[i]th what weapons or Engynes dyd youe the same, and whether did youe or any other p[er]sons breake downe or cause to be Broken Downe the syde or any p[ar]te of the said howse or of the plts Barne and whether was it by daie or by nighte and about what tyme of the daie or the nighte And whither did youe or they assalte threaten beate stryke hurte or wound any p[er]son then and theire in or about the said house beinge, and for what cause and entent Did youe the same./

7 Item where and in what place and in what company or companies and howe often did youe assemble and mete togeather before youe did the said acte, and who were the devisours and sollicitours or procurers of the same, and whither repaired youe and in whatt companies resorted and [?hannted?] you and in what place after that youe had donne youre said Feates and who were theire youre confederates or conferrents and what speches or conferrences had or used youe in or aboute the said matters And whether was there any speche advyse practice or platt for any Further acte or thinge to be donne in or about the p[re]misses and when and where shoulde the same be donne by the said speches or devyses and by whom and what number and w[i]th what weapons or Instruments and who were the contrivors of the same./

Roger Carnabye of Satlyngstones in the Co[unt]y of Northumb[er]lande sworne &c

To the first he saith he doth knowe the ferme and place callyd Satlyngstons [?in the said county?] of Northumb[er]lande and the [?tenement?] [?wherin?] the ... plt doth dwell and inhabite

To the seconde he dinieth that he came [?Lor?] towardes the howse or [[?tenement?][?wherin?] the plt dwellith on the said xxix day of January last otherwyse [?then?] that as he thinketh [?he then?] [?carrying?] [?to his owne?] dwellyng place dyd w[hi]ch doth adioyne to that w[hi]ch the plt dwellith in dyd come to or by the same house as he ... to his owne house

To the iij he saith to his Rememb[er]ance ther was nobodye in his company at the tyme supposyd except his wife chyldren and s[er]vantes [?but?] weapon [?municon?] or artillarye [?none?] of [?them then?] had any to his rememb[er]ance except this deft then had the weapon he [?usyth?] to beare ....

To the iiij he saith that near aboute the tyme supposyd an affraye betwene this deft and the said complt nere this defts & the plts dwelling howse and .. the tyme of that affraye this defts [?weife?] [?willm?] [?littell?] alis Smarte and other whose names or ..... ... [?was?] [?of?] [?then?] he rememb[re]th not came thither and that affraye began by meanes the said plt then assautyd and first stroke this deft and this deft then gettyng [?..thing?] the [?same/said?] plt dyd [?ov[er]?] [?throwe?] and [?holde?] [?him?] downe for a small tyme [?on?] ye grounde A.. [?denieth?] that he then dyd [?otherwise?] [then?] in his owne defense assaute strike beate hurte or waunde the [?said?] plt and [?likewyse?] ... that affray being ... this deft and manly dyd go to this def owne dwelling howse and littell and the [?Rest?] to the .... dwelling and he further [?denieth?] that the said plt was then assautyd [?struck?] hurte or woundyd by any manner of p[er]sone or p[er]sons otherwise then is before confessyd and [?otherwise?] or .... to any p[ar]te of the [?article?] he [?R..?] .....

To the v he denieth that he or any other p[er]sone or p[er]sons to his knowledge dyd on or aboute the said [?...x?]th day of marche last come to or nere the said plts howse otherwise then that as he thinketh this defts wife chyldren and s[er]vantes dyd by meanes this defts and the said plts dwellings and nere together come to or nere the said plts howse and that to no other .... then to come to this defts howse and to take oute of the barne [?certen?] corne to the quantyte of [?a pecke?] of wheate and [?fyve?] pecks of otes and [?certen?] bottells of [?haye?]

To the vj [?he denieth?] that he or any other to his knowledge dyd aboute the tyme supposyd ether in the daye or night tyme assaute with weopon or otherwyse the said complts howse or dyd breake downe or cause to be broken downe the syde or any p[ar]te of the said howse or any p[ar]te of the said barne or that he or any other dyd at or aboute the tyme supposyd assaute beate strike hurte or wounde any manner of p[er]sone or p[er]sons being then in or aboute the said howse

To the vij he denieth all and ev[er]y p[ar]te of the contents of the article for his p[ar]te or for any other to his knowledge

To the viij he saith ther was no [?suche?] [?assembly?] as is supposyd nether dyd he or any other to his knowledge assemble or mete together for the doing of any suche acte or actes as is supposyd nether was ther any devisors p[ro]curers or solicitors for the doing of any suche acte as is supposyd nether was ther any [?plats?] [?laide?] for any further acte to be don towching the p[re]misses or that he doth Rememb[er] any thing touching any p[ar]te of the rest of the contents of the [?owt..?]
