Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I cancel or reschedule an orientation?

Follow these step-by-step instructions to log in to your myUH self-service portal to manage your orientation schedule.

  • What is the cost of Virtual Orientation and how do I make a payment?

Virtual Orientation is $60. Payment for Virtual Orientation is due before you can view and select and orientation date through the myUH portal. Use these step-by-step instructions to log in to your myUH self-service portal and complete the payment process.

  • Do you offer a fee waiver for orientation?

UH does not offer fee waivers for orientation, however, due to COVID-19, we are providing fee deferments to students who are experiencing financial hardship— no questions asked. A fee deferment will add the $60 orientation fee to the student’s tuition and fee bill instead of requiring the student to pay $60 before registering for orientation. This allows students to pay for orientation once they receive their financial aid package.

A fee deferment is not a fee waiver. Any student who attends orientation will be required to pay the orientation fee whether the fee was deferred or the student attended a previous orientation from another term. Additionally, the orientation fee payment is still required if you do not enroll in the university after attending orientation. If payment is not made, a financial delinquency hold will be placed on the student’s account.

Please submit a request for a fee deferment using this link.

  • How do I schedule or reschedule my advising appointment?

You cannot register for an advising appointment without having attended your Virtual Orientation date. At Virtual Orientation, your college will discuss their process for academic advising. If you have already scheduled an appointment, reach out directly to the contact information provided along with your appointment information.

  • How do I remove the orientation holds on my account?

    Incoming Freshman Students:

    1. New Student Orientation
    2. Freshman Orientation Advising

    Incoming Transfer Students:

    1. Transfer Orientation
    2. Transfer Orientation Advising

The New Student Orientation hold and the Transfer Orientation hold will be removed from a student’s account immediately upon completing the Pre-Orientation Modules through your Access UH account.

The Freshman and Transfer Orientation Advising hold will be removed at the discretion of the college. Attend your Virtual Orientation to learn about your college’s advising process.

Academic advising arrangements will be available to students who are unable to attend the live component of virtual orientation before their intended semester of enrollment. All requests for this accommodation will be reviewed and granted with proof of the following circumstance:

    1. Student is or will be serving military orders during the entirety of the offered live virtual orientation dates, which prevents them from virtually attending any live component orientation date.
Students who meet any of the above criteria can complete an exemption form.
  • Fee Deferment

Due to COVID-19, we are providing fee deferments to students who are experiencing financial hardship— no questions asked. A fee deferment will add the $60 orientation fee to the student’s tuition and fee bill instead of requiring the student to pay $60 before registering for orientation. This allows students to pay for orientation once they receive their financial aid package. The tuition and fee bill deadline for Spring 2021 is January 12, 2021.

A fee deferment is not a fee waiver and UH does not offer fee waivers for orientation.
