Alumna Susie Molina to Guide Community Relations Efforts

HOUSTON, April 22, 2013 – University of Houston alumna Susie Molina recently joined the staff of the UH System Office of Governmental Relations as director of community relations, more than a decade after graduating from UH.

In her role, Molina will establish and maintain relationships with various nonprofit organizations, chambers of commerce, community leaders and multi-cultural groups to increase the visibility of the UH System. Molina also is tasked with developing partnerships and enhancing communication between the UH System and these organizations.

“As a lifelong Houstonian, I am excited to bring my experience, connections and Cougar pride to my alma mater, the University of Houston,” said Molina, who received a Bachelor of Arts in communications in 2004 from UH. She also holds a Masters of Arts in higher education administration from Sam Houston State University. 

Molina brings to campus extensive experience in community relations. She began her career at the Children’s Museum of Houston as a public relations coordinator in 2001. Since then, she has held positions at Lopez Negrete Communications, the nation’s largest independently owned Hispanic marketing agency, and in the public affairs department at KHOU-TV Channel 11.

At Lopez Negrete Communications, Molina led various collaborative projects with companies such as Bank of America, Shell Oil, Tyson Foods and Wal-Mart. While at Channel 11, Molina managed major initiatives such as the station’s citywide toy, food and blood drives and local parades. Most recently, Molina worked in Houston Community College’s Community Outreach Division.
