EARNS PRAISE FOR SHARMA
Pradeep Sharma, assistant professor of mechanical engineering,
adds a certain amount of creativity to his research.
The professor’s developments in the field of nanotechnology
have earned him two patents and much recognition, including the
Excellence in Research and Scholarship Award at the assistant professor
level.

The former General Electric research scientist also has established
a new nanomechanics education curriculum that has attracted enrollment
from Rice University.
“His creativity in research is particularly evidenced by
the versatility of subject matter that he has addressed and continues
to contribute to,” according to his nominator. “Dr.
Sharma is an exceptionally bright, highly energetic, extremely creative
and talented scientist.”
Three Awards for Excellence in Research and Scholarship are given
each year to faculty members who have achieved a substantial record
of outstanding research, scholarship or creative activities in their
field. Each award carries a $5,000 stipend and a plaque.
