Physics alumnus elected to National
Academy of Science
UH physics alumnus and former member of the university’s
Texas Center for Superconductivity and Advanced Materials (TcSAM),
Maw-Kuen Wu, is one of the 18 newly elected foreign associates to
the National Academy of Science (NAS).
A citizen of the Republic of China, Wu currently
is a distinguished research fellow and director of the Institute
of Physics at the Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan.
The election was held at the 141st annual meeting
of the NAS in Washington, D.C. Considered one of the highest honors
accorded a US scientist or engineer, the recent election brings
the total number of active members up to 351.
