Madison Brown serves as the main point of contact for all University of Houston (UH) faculty and staff seeking to hire students for on-campus employment, including College Work Study (CWS) and Non-College Work Study (NCWS) roles. Having been a student employee herself, she not only possesses the ability to support faculty and staff but develops excellent programming and resources for students to understand the employment process to succeed once hired. She also supports the Employer Relations Development team with event logistics and managing the details related to career fairs, special events, and employer meet and greets.
Prior to joining University Career Services, Madison earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English with Secondary Licensure from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) in May 2022. During her undergraduate study, she worked on-campus as an Academic Ambassador for the university’s Center for Student Success and Resident Assistant for Housing and Residence Life. Within these roles, she had the opportunity to help create a safe and supportive living and learning environment for students to achieve their academic and personal goals. Because of her passion for working with students, Madison later enrolled in the Teacher Education Program at USM in 2020 where she aspired to build a stronger foundation, both academically and pedagogically.
Madison’s teacher candidacy and personal experience in student employment has allowed her to develop a deeper understanding of academic procedures and policies and the overall personal development of students. Madison is currently working on her Master of Arts degree in English and hopes to apply her knowledge to her current role as she is excited to continue her education while helping other students succeed in reaching their goals.
