Each year the UH Office of Sustainability facilitates Campus Race to Zero Waste (formerly recyclemania). Campus Race to Zero Waste (CR2ZW) is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities. Each Spring semester, colleges across the United States and Canada report the amount of recycling and trash collected each week and are ranked in various categories. With each week’s updated ranking, participating schools follow their performance against other colleges and use the results to rally their campus to reduce and recycle more. Each university in the CR2ZW competition submits their recycling data once a week to track recycling and waste minimization. View the University of Houston's ranking in the competition online.
How to take Part? Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
The more waste that UH campus members divert from the landfill, the higher UH will be ranked in the nationwide competition! Learn what you can recycle by visiting the recycling on campus page, and be sure to take part in the button collecting competition to help bump up UH’s score!
