About RFL

Research First Look is a new program at the University of Houston, aimed at creating better partnerships between academia and regional industries to translate research into practice.

Industry needs a variety of intellectual input across all areas of business – and UH researchers are looking into these challenges, everything from processes to improve production and supply chain to the issues impacting organizational development.

This innovative research can introduce new thought into current processes, providing industry with valuable data for process improvement while enhancing the translational research experience of talented students and faculty at UH.

Our Student and Faculty Researchers

UH is the second-most diverse public university in the United States. Students – and faculty – come from all over the world to pursue research here in this international city, especially those looking work in major industries in Houston, such as energy, health, biotech and aerospace.

Research First Look provides an opportunity for these industries to have inside access to some of the most promising research ideas and projects, many of which may have sustainable outcomes for business practices.

About the Event

Every year, the University of Houston puts on a showcase for students and faculty to demonstrate their ideas to our industry partners. This year, more than 50 research projects will be presented from more than 20 academic programs across campus. This is a great opportunity to explore how industry and academic partnerships can take innovative ideas and turn them into real-world solutions.
