Part of the facility's mission is to determine phase equilibria of oxide systems containing HTS materials
at 1 atm. and at higher pressures and under different atmospheres

The most complicated system we are working on is Bi-Ca-Sr-Cu-O. Phase studies of this quinary system
and of its componant systems is intergrated with studies of neighboring systems, including Y-Ba-Cu-O
and La-Sr-Cu-O. Studies have also expanded to include Bi-AE-O, where AE is Ba, Ca or Sr. The
Bi-AE-O system is important because it includes oxygen anion and electronic conductors
