Part of the facility's mission is to determine phase
equilibria of oxide systems containing HTS materials at 1 atm. and at higher pressures
and under different atmospheres
The most complicated system we are working on is
Bi-Ca-Sr-Cu-O. Phase studies of this quinary system and of
its componant systems is intergrated with studies of neighboring systems, including Y-Ba-Cu-O
and La-Sr-Cu-O. Studies have also expanded to include Bi-AE-O, where AE is Ba, Ca or Sr. The
Bi-AE-O system is important because it includes oxygen anion and electronic conductors |
