Data Intensive Computing in the age of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA)

Thursday, September 22, 2022

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

About the Event

The presentation focuses on the challenges of supporting real-time data processing pipelines at the scale required for current and future radioastronomy projects at the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre, which is one of two sites hosting the Square Kilometre Array’s high performance computing systems.

After a short introduction to the Pawsey centre and radioastronomy science, the presentation explains in detail how scientific data products are generated from radiotelescopes and gives an overview of how data processing pipelines are evolving to support science at the scale of the Square Kilometre Array.
