Locally Bioavailable Drugs for Colonic Disease
Tuesday, April 5, 2022
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
About the Event
Hu’s laboratory is devoted to studying the factors that govern the bioavailability of drugs, drug candidates, dietary chemicals, nutrients and micronutrients. He is especially interested in the study of drug delivery modalities and mechanisms that have tremendous potentials for clinical utility
About the Speaker
Ming Hu, Ph.D., is the Diana S-L. Chow Endowed Professor of Drug Discovery and Development in the Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Houston. He will discuss a new approach for designing drugs that are predominantly bioavailable in the colon. He will be describe this new practice and contrast it with conventional approaches. He will then describe how his laboratory uses this approach to inhibit COX-2 in the colon and relate the lab’s progression toward treating Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP), an inherited disease.
