Request Resources/Allocation on RCDC Clusters
An allocation is a defined quantity of computing time and storage resources granted to a Principal Investigator (PI) in accordance with the applicable allocation policy. Details are provided on the policy page.
The basic unit of computational resources is the Service Unit (SU), defined as the use of one CPU core for one hour on the HPC clusters. Allocations are intended to support researchers conducting specific, approved research projects and are granted for a period of one year. Dedicated resources acquired through the Cluster Partnership Program (Condo Model) are not governed by this allocation policy.
The HPE DSI allocation process assumes that tenure-track and tenured applicants already possess Cougarnet credentials (i.e., an email address ending in @central.uh.edu or @cougarnet.uh.edu). Applicants without Cougarnet credentials—including tenure-track or tenured faculty from non-main campus UH locations (e.g., UH Clear Lake, UH Sugar Land, UH Katy, UH Downtown)—must first obtain sponsorship by completing the Cougarnet credential request form.
Allocation Requests may take up to seven (7) business days to process.

Requests over 250,000 SU's require direct approval from the Director of the HPE DSI and may require additional time to complete.
