Learning Abroad Fall Updates

Learning Abroad has been busy updating our faculty-led program process and the IEFS Scholarship; we will be hosting a Faculty-Led workshop and the Fall Fair in September.

Faculty-Led Program Proposal Updates

If you are interested in leading a faculty-led program abroad, join us for the Faculty-Led Workshop on Thursday, September 7th at 3pm in the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion. We have updated the proposal form and requirements for approval.

  1. There is a proposal submission deadline of Friday, November 3, 2017 for programs taking place through the end of 2018.
  2. All faculty program leaders are required to attend a Risk Management Workshop. We will host one in the fall and one in the spring. The fall date is Thursday, November 2 at 2:30 p.m.
  3. August 1, UH started working with Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI) for more comprehensive international health and safety insurance coverage for you and our students while abroad. More information can be found here:

IEFS Scholarship Updates

The International Education Fee Scholarship application is now open for students traveling abroad for educational experiences this winter, spring 2018, and summer 2018.

All applications are due by October 4th, 2017 at 5pm. The application has changed and now requires one letter of recommendation from a UH faculty or staff member. For more information, visit our website here:

Classroom Visits & the Learning Abroad Fall Fair

We would love to visit your classes for a short 5 minute announcement about Learning Abroad opportunities and the upcoming Fall Fair. To schedule classroom visits, please email Maggie Mahoney.

The Fall Fair is Tuesday, September 19th from 11am-2pm in the Student Center Ballroom. If you would like to add a slide about Learning Abroad to your class PowerPoints, please feel free to download the slide and/or graphic in this email.

We appreciate your support of Learning Abroad, and we would be glad to discuss opportunities for you to partner with our office to lead a program abroad and support our #CoogsAbroad.
