GTF Scholarship for Early College Graduates January 27, 2016

Congratulations in reaching this stage in your academic career. We are excited about your graduation from an Early College High School this year and that you have applied for admission to earn your next degree from the University of Houston.

Over the course of your UH application process, you may have heard about the Greater Texas Foundation (GTF) Scholars Program. The program provides graduates from designated Texas Early College High Schools the opportunity to compete for a $1,000-4,000 GTF Scholarship at the University of Houston. The GTF Scholars program issues a 2-year, renewable scholarship to 25 selected first year students. A completed UH admissions application allows eligible students to be automatically considered for the GTF Scholarship.

As part of the program, we want all Early College High School students that come to UH to be prepared to succeed. Here are steps you can take in order to be competitive for the GTF Scholarship and to be enrollment ready at this stage:

Complete the FAFSA application (regardless of whether you intend to use financial aid).

Submit transcripts for all of your completed community college transfer credit. Students must submit both their completed high school transcript as well as their most current community college transcript for college credit to be transferred. Electronic transcripts are preferred and strongly encouraged.

Review the Enrollment Ready checklist for any other items you may need to complete.

In the meantime, keep doing your best and enjoy your senior year.

Best wishes,

Heidi Kennedy, Ph.D. - GTF Program Advisor
