Dear UHS Faculty and Staff:
Earlier this year, our UH System Board of Regents approved the general recommendations of a task force charged with determining the future direction of our University of Houston at Sugar Land branch campus.
Since then, we have begun working to develop a transition plan that will allow us to make the necessary changes in a thoughtful and productive manner. Recently, we took a critical step forward with the creation of the UH Sugar Land Transition Steering Committee, which I am leading. Today, we undertake another significant phase, naming the individual members of the four Work Groups of the transition team. These group members will identify the various challenges involved with this complex process and offer valuable proposals to address them.
The 78 members represent a diverse collection of university and community stakeholders who share a common understanding of the importance of this transition and a commitment to help the UH System support its overall mission of providing excellent and affordable education to as many students as possible.
Clearly, this is a demanding task, but I am confident that we now have the collective energy, experience, intelligence and dedication to succeed. I applaud each and every member who has agreed to join us in this important work.
