Deliciously Educational

Pharmacy Students' Rich Heritages Celebrated in Food, Fashion and Fun at 27th International Day

October 29 — For its 27th year, the UH College of Pharmacy's first-year class of Pharm.D. students brought the world to the college's Health 2 building for a dazzling display of traditional dress, cuisine, performances, games and education for the International Day festival Oct. 29.

Launched in 1992 by the Pharm.D. Class of 1995, International Day is organized and hosted by the first-year students to celebrate the rich cultural heritages represented within the college as well as class fundraiser through meal-ticket sales thanks to food donations from area restaurants.

Thanks to Houston's place among the most diverse cities in the U.S., UHCOP – and the university itself – have long enjoyed a similar status for racial and ethnic diversity. In fact, an annual poll taken during the Pharm.D. orientation reveals approximately 25 languages and dialects spoken by students in any given year.
