Celebrating Our History/Securing Our Legacy

The College of Pharmacy at the University of Houston was established amidst the bustling economy of Houston and across Texas following the end of World War II. Led by physician-pharmacist Dr. Allan Collette and other local pharmacists, the state’s second college of pharmacy was approved by the UH Board of Regents on Oct. 16, 1946, and opened its doors the following year.

Since then, the college and its alumni, faculty and students have earned their place among the greatest institutions, practitioners, teachers and scientists in the nation. We invite you to join us in celebrating these accomplishments among your classmates, peers, colleagues and mentors as well as alongside the next generation of leaders at the 75th Diamond Jubilee Gala on June 4, 2022, at the UH Hilton.

The 75th Diamond Jubilee Gala also serves as an opportunity to show our commitment to securing the legacy of future outstanding leaders in patient care, health outcomes and drug discovery/development. All of the proceeds from the table sponsorships, individual tickets, silent auction and other gifts will be directed to our special "75th Anniversary Scholarship Fund" to provide operating scholarships for current and incoming students.

Our goal is to raise $1.5 million in this fund to ensure maximum impact for deserving students. It’s an ambitious goal, but your UHCOP is an ambitious college focused on transforming pharmacy-led patient care and innovative therapeutics and continuation of displaying our unique 4-Cs: Character, Compassion, Competency and Courage.

Mading Society Logo

Mading Society

The Mading Society recognizes individual donors who have made at least $10,000 in lifetime giving to the college and corporations/foundations who have given at least $25,000 in cumulative gifts to the college. The Mading Society was established in 1997 in memory of Cora and Webb Mading, who provided the college’s first major gift through a bequest.

As part of the college’s 75th anniversary activities, the Mading Society induction – and Red Coat recognition for milestone giving – will be among the highlights of the Diamond Jubilee Gala. We look forward to welcoming our latest class of generous supporters into this prestigious organization.
