Mu Delta Pre-Health Organization and the American Medical Student Association Premedical Chapter are joining forces to offer a Health Fair and a Health Professionals Banquet the first week of February.
The Health Fair will take place 2-6 p.m. Feb. 2 in the Rotunda of the Campus Recreation and Wellness Building. Free blood pressure screenings will be among services provided. Attendees also will be eligible to win an online Kaplan course, with the winner being able to choose from a range of test preparation courses that include those for medical, pharmacy or even law school.
The banquet is scheduled 6-10 p.m. Feb. 3 at the UH Hilton in the Waldorf Astoria Room. According to Ejiro Umaka, Mu Delta president, the banquet aims to put pre-health students in touch with deans of professional schools to learn about admission processes and tips for gaining admission. Deans of pharmacy, medical, dental, nursing and other health programs, including those at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston, the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio and the University of Texas have been invited.
Tickets can be reserved for $10 in the form of a check or money order. "The check or money order will be returned after the event to each student," Umaka said. "We want to make sure that each student who reserves a seat does attend the event."
Students can secure a ticket at the Health Fair or in the Mu Delta Office in Room 103 of the Engineering Education Resource Center, Building 594, http://www.uh.edu/plantops/images/pts_maps/uh_map__legend.pdf
