Vehicles fuel consumption is an issue that should be considered by drivers to lower the amount of fuel and emission for better green environment and savings. Gas prices are getting higher and the automotive production is increasing very fast in engines and bodies that have impact on fuel consumption. People think that the only way to decrease the amount of fuel consumed during a drive is to have a small car with small engine, but they do not consider the driving behavior which is one of the factors to consume more fuel. If a person drives aggressively accelerating and decelerating the probability that amount of gas will be used on that drive is higher than if the same person drives on a constant speed most of the time. Monitoring driving behavior and the amount of gas consumed during specific time requires a luxury car with a screen provides the fuel consumption or buying expensive devices to provide that information. We consider using the interactive nature of the new smart phones nowadays to predict vehicle fuel consumption based on instantaneous speed and acceleration. We also provide an analysis of vehicle acceleration on the mobile phone accelerometer axes to emphasize driving patters during a specific drive.
