UH RESPONDS TO VIRGINIA TECH TRAGEDY
Yesterday was filled with shock and horror as word spread of
the shootings on the campus of Virginia Tech. Today, we know more
about what happened and about the events that led up to this tragedy.
Knowledge, however, does not always help us make sense of the
senseless.
It is very possible that some members of our University of Houston
family have relatives, friends, or colleagues at Virginia Tech.
If that is the case with you, please know that all of us here
at the University of Houston hold you in our thoughts and prayers,
just as we hold the victims and their families in our thoughts
and prayers.
I have asked that we lower the university’s flag to half-staff
at noon today, at which time I hope that you will join Susie and
me in a moment of silence.
The university’s Counseling and Psychological Services is
available if you would like to talk with someone. To schedule
an appointment, you may call 713-743-5454, or you may stop by
their front desk during regular business hours. You can get more
information about Counseling and Psychological Services at www.caps.uh.edu.
Once again, please keep in your thoughts and prayers the victims
and their families, and our fellow students and colleagues at
Virginia Tech.
