NEW PARALEGAL TRAINING PROGRAM OFFERED
BY UH
Students Receive Certificate Following Course Completion
HOUSTON, Aug. 23, 2005 – An eight-weekend paralegal training
course will be offered for the first time by UH’s Continuing
Education and Corporate Training department this fall. An information
night about the course will be held Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at the UH
Hilton, Continuing Education wing, room 105.
Offering the course only on weekends allows those with full-time
jobs to participate, said program organizer Lauren Kirby. It requires
a high school diploma, and the $1,995 fee includes all course books.
UH can provide a multi-payment plan for those who cannot pay the
entire fee up front.
UH’s course will run every Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to
5 p.m., from Oct. 8 to Dec. 4, excluding Thanksgiving weekend, Nov.
26-27.
The instructors for the course are lawyers and paralegals. Students
will receive a framed certificate of completion for paralegal training
at the end of the course. Upon completion of the UH program, students
can choose to pursue accreditation by becoming a Certified Legal
Assistant (CLA) through the National Association of Legal Assistants
(NALA), or a Registered Paralegal (RP) through the National Federal
of Paralegal Associations (NFPA).
