STAR SEARCH: ENTERTAINERS NEEDED FOR UH
MUSICAL THEATRE AUDITIONS
Broadway Producer Ostrow Seeks Dancers, Singers and More for Annual
Project
Stuart Ostrow is looking for University of Houston students with
Broadway potential. The Tony Award-winning producer and Distinguished
University Professor of Musical Theatre will conduct interviews
and auditions for his Fall 2005 Musical Theatre Collaboration and
Musical Theatre Lab classes on Tuesday, April 5, in the School of
Theatre’s Lyndall Finley Wortham Theatre.
Each year in these classes, Ostrow prepares both onstage and offstage
talents for the challenges of musical theater.
He is looking for dancers, choreographers, stage managers, producers,
designers, composers, lyricists and writers for his Musical Theatre
Collaboration course. Portfolios and writing samples should be brought
to the interview.
The following entertainers are needed for Ostrow’s Musical
Theatre Lab:
Singers – All singers must prepare two
vocal selections – one up-tempo and one ballad – and
bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided.
Singers may be asked to perform a monologue of their choice, cold
read a new scene or learn additional music or a movement combination.
Dancers – Dancers should wear appropriate
attire and bring a compact disc or tape player. A dance combination
will be taught at the audition.
For additional details, contact Sandy Judice at (713) 743-3003.
