HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY STUDENTS AT UH ROLL
UP THEIR SLEEVES AT THE 2nd ANNUAL TRAVEL SHOW
Students at the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College
of Hotel and Restaurant Management prepare to roll up their sleeves
and get to work at the upcoming “American Express Cruise and
Vacation Travel Show.” The event is co-sponsored by the college,
and is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 30 at
the JW Marriott hotel ballroom.
As part of their indoctrination to the hospitality industry, students
of the college will participate in a variety of assignments including
seminar show monitoring, ticket selling, assisting booth vendors
and conducting consumer “exit” interviews. Morgan Geddie,
professor of HRM, will accompany his students at the show.
The leisure travel show features more than 50 cruise lines, resorts,
destinations, car rental companies, attractions and travel-related
businesses and organizations.
Tickets are $5 for adults; children under 16 free. A portion of
the admission revenue will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of
Houston.
Free parking is available in the Eckerd’s lot at Sage and
Westheimer and across the street from the hotel at The Galleria.
The Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management
was established in 1969 to meet the demand for professional education
in the increasingly complex hospitality industry. The curriculum
prepares students to deal with changing business conditions and
presents both theoretical and practical approaches to the diverse
needs of the hospitality industry.
